Abstract
Like other areas of human life, today, libraries have also started using the computers and other electronic
devices in providing various services to users and in other house-keeping activities. Use of computers in libraries is
called automation of libraries for providing better and quick services to the users. For this purpose, various govt.
agencies, institutions & corporate undertakings in India and abroad have developed various new techniques and
technologies for libraries. The present article focuses on QR Codes and their history, adoption, design, storage
capacity, symbols and types. The article also explains benefits, limitations and elements of QR codes. Besides this,
the article is intended to enlighten the uses of QR codes in library services and other sectors.
